Draft Cabinet minutes of June 20, 2006 were approved.
Capital Projects
The Department of General Services (DGS) has awarded contracts for the Ware
Center Renovation project to: Sha-Nic, Inc (General), TMI Commercial,
Inc. (HVAC & Plumbing), and Electri-Tech, Inc. (Electrical). The
contract for the Chapel slate roof replacement/repair has been awarded to
Randall G. Myer.DBA R-Shell Exteriors.
The Governor has signed the Capital Budget Bill (HB2317, which includes capital
funding for Lincoln University for various projects totaling $175,500,000.
Lincoln University Publications
President Nelson asked that the Office of Communications produce a publication
with academic achievements as its focus, similar to that produced on Lincoln’s
athletic programs. All academic achievements should be forwarded to
the Office of Communications for inclusion in this publication.
Faculty and Directors Retreats
Cabinet discussed the possibility of the faculty and directors coming
together for a joint presentation by President Nelson to kick off the Faculty
and Directors Retreats. This format would ensure that both groups are
informed and updated on the business aspects and direction of the University.
The Presentation would be followed by a combined luncheon after which the
groups would break off to address their separate agenda items.
Academic Affairs
Cabinet discussed preparations for the start-up of the fall 2006 semester.
Consideration has been made for classroom space and office moves given the
renovation of classroom buildings currently in progress.
The academic vice president and deans indicated that the new University Catalogue
would be finalized and ready for distribution by July 31, 2006.
Fiscal Affairs
Vice President Merlin distributed draft “Grant Awards” and “Grant Writing
and Proposal Development” policies for Cabinet review before implementation.
Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
The three one-day drive-in sessions scheduled for July 25, 26, 27 are filled
to capacity. The sessions have been revised slightly from last year
in terms of advising.
