MINUTES
Cabinet minutes of June 17, 2008
were approved.
PHYSICAL PLANT BRIEFING
DGS Projects
The Vail Hall roofing project has
been delayed for another week as the contractors are waiting on
material.
The gas line will be at the new
science building next week. The project
as a whole is progressing well.
A meeting for the landscaping
projects has been scheduled for next week.
Lincoln House, Lincoln Hall and
the Security
Building are the
next roofing projects
to be undertaken
University Projects
The Bookstore moved into the
Student Union Building – opened June 23rd
LLC – work on sealing all showers
has been completed; all ceilings will be fixed
Cresson Hall – in the process of
installing new bathrooms
Ashmun Hall – closet doors are
being installed; new windows have been installed
Ware Center & University Hall
– Smart Boards will be installed in both buildings
Building access Locks – Lincoln
will standardize
using Sargeant locks. This may cause a
brief delay in the project
Historic Preservation
Cabinet discussed a proposal from
interested parties regarding assistance to secure funds relative to
historic
preservation of buildings. It was agreed
that we might be able to pursue something that would provide funds to
restore
the rest of the Chapel windows or to renovate the Security Building.
PRESIDENT
President Nelson spoke briefly
about the Bond Family Reunion held on the campus over the past weekend. He commended Mr. Tracey
J. Hunter Hayes, Director of the Library, for his
presentation on Horace Mann Bond during the Reunion
program.
Copies of the proposed “Campus
Signage Concepts” were shared with members of the Cabinet.
DEVELOPMENT AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS
Vice President Hill discussed the
Annual Golf Outing scheduled for Wednesday, June 25, 2008.
Due to the high volume of copies
produced by the University copy center (2,000,000/year), Vice President
Hill
requested that the purchase of the new copier be given high priority.
ADACEMIC AFFAIRS
Vice President Venerable reported
that the Library Director is now holding regular department meetings.
A replacement will have to be
found to replace Dr. Prigg in the Step to College program.
Dr. Prigg has accepted a position at Oakwood College.
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
New Student Drive-In registration
sessions are scheduled for July 15th, 16th, 17th,
and 22nd.
