Cabinet minutes of June 10, 2008
were approved.
PRESIDENT
Retention Plan
President Nelson indicated that
he is expecting a different dialogue regarding the University’s
retention
plans. He would also like to see the
departments utilize those with a minimal workload over the summer
months.
Vice Presidents Venerable and
Bynum have begun meeting with staff to develop a retention plan for the
University. VP Venerable presented a
worksheet which outlines the roles of academic affairs and student
affairs
& enrollment management in achieving the retention goals. Preliminary meetings have been held and
additional
interviews are scheduled with representatives from various departments. The final plan will be tied to student
assessment and will incorporate academic advising.
Vice President Bynum provided
statistics on the visits to Lincoln University’s
athletic
website. The report shows that the new
football program has garnered considerable interest by those visiting
the site.
Title III
It is estimated that Lincoln
University may be
awarded $700,000 in
additional Title III funding for the next two years.
Priority for the new funds will be placed on direct
services to students. Staff salaries are
not to be heavily supported by this funding source.
Emergency Alert System
A test of the Lincoln University
Emergency Alert System (cell phone & email) was conducted on June 11th. A summary of the test parameters and results
was distributed.
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
Recruitment Plan
Vice President Bynum informed the
group that his area is working on the current system, incorporating a
different
level of sophistication. This includes
hosting receptions for higher achieving applicants.

Shaw
University’s Associate
Athletic Director, Ms.
Dianthea Ford-Kee, has been appointed Lincoln University’s
new Athletic Director, effective 07.07.08. Dr. Ford-Kee brings with her
a
national reputation and is a respected, long time member of the CIAA. Among other prestigious and notable
accomplishments, she is the recipient of the 2006 NACWAA Woman
Administrator of
the Year Award and has served on the NCAA management council for a
number of
years.

President Nelson suggested that Dr.
Bynum
introduce Athletic Department new hires to the faculty during the
Faculty
Retreat.

On June 15, Lincoln
University was a sponsor and
participated
in the 19th annual “Real Men Cook” charity event in Philadelphia.
The event was very well attended.

FISCAL AFFAIRS
The FY09 operating budget was
discussed. Vice President will present
the final draft at the next Cabinet meeting.

There being no further business, President
Nelson adjourned the meeting at 11:50 a.m.
