June 17, 2002

Attendees:   President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President Michael B. Hill, Vice President Grant D.Venerable, Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Vice President William B. Bynum, Ms. Diane M. Brown

Minutes of the June 10, 2002 Cabinet Meeting were approved with the necessary revision.

Traffic Safety - Lincoln University has gotten positive support from Lower Oxford Township relating to efforts to reduce the speed limit on the stretch of Baltimore Pike in front of the campus.  Lower Oxford Township Officials have asked the Department of Transportation (DOT) to lower the speed limit to 35 on this stretch of roadway.  Lincoln University may have to help with the cost of posting new traffic speed limit signs if the proposal is approved by DOT.

Telephone Usage - As another means of monitoring expenses, the Vice Presidents have been asked to review telephone usage reports for their respective areas, generated by the office of Information Technology.  The telephone reports are to be reviewed for instances of abuse in long distance and international calling.  While the reports require some fine-tuning, it is anticipated that this process will lead to the identification and subsequent reduction of abuse in use of the University's telephone system.
