President’s Cabinet Meeting
 June 8, 2005


Attendees:  President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President William B. Bynum, Jr., Vice President Michael B. Hill, Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, II and Ms. Jody C. Brunner for Ms. Diane M. Brown.  Attending for a portion of the meeting:  George Buchanan, Esq., University Counsel.

Legal Briefing
Mr. Buchanan briefed Cabinet on outstanding legal issues at the University.

May 31, 2005 Cabinet meeting minutes were approved as corrected.

RFI No. P5122 (Revitalization of the Center for Graduate and Continuing Education)
Vice President Hill will chair the Urban Center Revitalization committee.  The committee will include, among others, a student representative and an MHS faculty member.  The committee will rank five (5) proposals and forward comments to Ms. Tina Hunt, Purchasing Agent no later than June 15, 2005.

2004-05 Student Financial Aid Review
President Nelson congratulated Vice President Bynum on a positive 2004-05 Student Financial Aid review performed by the Office of Audit and Control in May 2005.  The review found the awarded and distributed student financial aid to be properly documented and within regulation guidelines and limits.  No exceptions were noted and the auditor had no recommendations.

Leave Time Donation Policy
The second draft of the Leave Time Donation Policy was approved.

Middle States Commission on Higher Education
The Commission clarified dates for the 2005 Self-Study Institute.  Vice President Venerable will notify the Middle States team of the corrected dates for the Institute (Monday, November 7 and Tuesday, November 8, 2005).

Fiscal Affairs
Vice President Merlin presented the 2005-06 Preliminary Operating Budget.
