W. Thomas, Dean Gladys J. Willis and Ms. Jody C. Brunner for Ms. Diane M.
Brown. Attended a portion of the meeting: Mr. John Thompson,
Director of Physical Plant.
PHYSICAL PLANT
The proposed 2006-07 Physical Plant capital and operational budgets were
discussed.
PRESIDENT
Employee performance evaluations are due June 30, 2006. The
President requested self-evaluations from the Vice Presidents.
Capital Budget. Instructional software shall be considered a
priority and will be applied to the Information Technology (IT) budget.
Operational Budget. The operations of each proposed budget must
be adjusted within available revenue. Rather than using the concept
of budget cutting, adjustments must be made on how business is conducted,
prioritizing need, and making the necessary adjustments to accomplish our
mission. All salary raises required by collective bargaining agreements,
increased benefit costs, and a 3.0% overall increase in salaries for non-union
personnel must be considered. University personnel must begin to develop
the mindset that the University cannot depend on the State and students for
additional revenue.
CIAA. Lincoln University has been invited to apply for membership
to the conference. Vice President Bynum will coordinate the application
process.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Faculty Contract Letter. Vice President Venerable is revising
the faculty contract letter by incorporating language from the CBA and faculty
by-laws.
Legal Issues. Vice President Venerable provided an update on
faculty legal issues.
DEVELOPMENT AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS
Alumni Giving. Vice President Hill reported that May
2006 yielded the highest number of Alumni contributors in Lincoln’s recent
history.
Rivers State, Nigeria. A small delegation, including President
Nelson, will travel to West Africa (tentatively June 20, 2006) to visit Rivers
State University of Science and Technology.
Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry recently recognized Head
Men’s Basketball Coach Garfield Yuille as “Coach of the Year.”
FISCAL AFFAIRS
Vice President Merlin presented the 2005-06 Actual v. Budget (May 31, 2006).
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
University Website. As part of the Datatel Implementation, Vice President
Bynum reported that the Project Team chaired by Michael Taylor is working
on changing the University’s website. A sample of the proposed website
was presented to Cabinet.
