Attendees:  President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President William B. Bynum, Dr. Renford A.B. Brevett for Vice President Michael B. Hill, Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Vice President Grant D. Venerable and Ms. Jody C. Brunner for Ms. Diane M. Brown.
 
MINUTES
 
Cabinet minutes of May 15, 2007, were approved.
 
PRESIDENT
 
Delegation of Authority.  In the absence of a departmental director, especially in critical areas, each Vice President must ascertain that a qualified employee has been delegated authority by the Director to effectively operate the department in his/her absence.
 
Ware Center/University Hall . The University will not move in to Ware Center and University Hall until they are properly equipped and furnished.
 
Conflict of Interest Forms .  The Vice Presidents were instructed to make sure all outstanding Conflict of Interest forms are submitted to Human Resources as soon as possible.
 
University of Pennsylvania . In an effort to recruit and retain excellent faculty, Drexel, Lehigh, the University of Pennsylvania, Temple, Thomas Jefferson, and Villanova are committed to the expansion of the New Jersey Higher Education Recruitment Consortium to include schools in Pennsylvania.  Ms. Rochelle Gray, Acting Director of Human Resources will respond to this request.
 
Christian R. & Mary F. Lindback Foundation. The President publicly thanked Mr. Sheldon Bonovitz, for awarding, through the Foundation, a Minority Junior Faculty Award to Karen Baskerville, Ph.D. in the amount of $15,000 for the project “Vulnerability of Cholinergic Neurons in Alzheimer’s Disease.”
 
The Foundation also awarded a Minority Junior Faculty Award to Jason Esters, B.A., for “Examining Writing Across the Curriculum Pedagogy and Technology Integration at HBCUs.”
 
Board of Trustees Reappointment.  Governor Rendell nominated Mr. Robert F. Powelson for reappointment to the Board. The reappointment was confirmed by the Senate on May 22, 2007.
 
Honda Campus All-Star Challenge.  The President asked Dr. Bynum to register Lincoln University for participation in the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge 2008.
 
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
 
Faculty Grievances.  Vice President Venerable provided an update on outstanding faculty grievances.
 
DEVELOPMENT AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS

PDE Grant.  Dr. Brevett provided a status report on PDE Grants.
 
Rivers State, Nigeria.  A small delegation, including President Nelson, recently returned from a site visit to Rivers State University of Science and Technology.
 
FISCAL AFFAIRS

The 2007-08 draft budgets were discussed.

 STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
 President Nelson asked Dr. Bynum to have the University Band ready by the September 15, 2007 Board of Trustees meeting.
