President’s Cabinet Meeting
May 2, 2005
Attendees: President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President Michael
B. Hill, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Vice President Howard E. Merlin,
Vice President William B. Bynum and Ms. Diane M. Brown.
Founder’s Day and Commencement Weekend
President Nelson expressed his gratitude to everyone for their efforts in
the success of the Founder’s Day/Alumni and Commencement weekend activities.
From all accounts, the Founder’s Day and Alumni Awards Banquet on Saturday
evening, and the Baccalaureate and Commencement programs on Sunday were well
received.
2005-2006 Operating and Capital Budgets
The vice presidents were asked to revisit the draft capital budget to bring
it in line with the $1.9 million allotment. The enhancement of the current
residence halls and the new residence hall are the two top capital priorities.
Other capital requests should be in line with the priorities contained in
the University’s Strategic Plan.
Additional revisions must be made to the proposed operating budget.
Given projected enrollment, expenses and revenues, the vice presidents were
instructed that budgeted expenses for 2005-2006 must not exceed budgeted expenses
for the 2004-05 fiscal year.
