President’s Cabinet Meeting
April 25, 2005
9:00 a.m.
Attendees: President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President Michael
B. Hill, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Vice President Howard E. Merlin,
Vice President William B. Bynum and Ms. Diane M. Brown.
New Residence Hall
Construction of Phase I is on schedule. This wing of the residence
hall will be ready for student occupancy in August 2005. Construction
on Phase II has begun and is on schedule for the expected completion date.
Classroom and Office Space for the 2006-07 Academic Year
President Nelson has asked the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic
Deans, working with the Department Chairs and the Registrar to prepare a class
schedule for the 2006-2007 academic year. The intent is to minimize
the number of classrooms needed in modular units during the renovation of
University Hall and Ware Center. This will help to decrease the purchase
or lease cost of the modular units.
FY ’06 Capital Budget
The vice presidents were asked to review the preliminary submission for
possible areas of reduction and re-submit a new plan for the President’s
review.
Fiscal Affairs
Cabinet will revisit the University’s salary advance policy in September.
