President’s Cabinet Meeting
April 18, 2005
Attendees: President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President Michael
B. Hill, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Vice President Howard E. Merlin,
Vice President William B. Bynum, Dean John Chikwem, Dean Judith Thomas, Dean
Gladys Willis and Ms. Diane M. Brown. Also in attendance:
NAFEO Kellogg Leadership Fellow Dr. Kenoye Eke, Provost and Vice President
of Academic and Student Affairs, Cheyney University.
Lincoln University Scholarships
The Cabinet discussed the process for awarding Study Abroad Scholarships
to students. It was agreed that the current process should be reviewed
and that a new process should be established. The new process should
provide for the proportionate distribution of monies to students.
The Cabinet also discussed housing of students who receive the University
funded Presidential, 21st Century, University and International scholarships.
The administration will consider whether these students will be required
to reside in the University’s residence halls.
State Audit
The Commonwealth Audit of appropriations earned by Lincoln University for
the fiscal year ended June 30, 2004 is scheduled to begin on April 19, 2005.
Fiscal Affairs
The Vice President and directors in the fiscal area met with the incoming
Student Government Association officers to discuss the University’s policies
and procedures. The meeting was well received and the students were
pleased to have the opportunity to exchange information and become better
informed about University requirements as they relate to their new responsibilities
as SGA officers.
The Cabinet has determined that Lincoln students should be required to purchase
insurance to cover their personal property if they do not have this coverage
through other means. The fiscal office is in the process of collecting
information concerning the cost to students for this insurance coverage.
