DISCUSSION ITEMS
·
Standard 14 Requirements – The members reviewed
the draft “Report on MSCHE Standard 14: Assessment of Student Learning as of
March 30, 2011” presented by President Nelson.
The deans provided updated information and clarification for the report
which will be included in the President’s April 2011 Report to the Board of
Trustees. The report shows the progress
made to date for each of the 37 academic programs for which assessment is
required.
President
Nelson reviewed the importance of data collection, and documentation of action
taken based on the data. The deans
indicated that they are confident that sufficient data is available to support
assessment activities to date.
The deans
agreed that Oral Communications would be renumbered to be in line with other
“Success” courses. The program will now
be identified as “Oral Communications 099.”
The criteria to determine whether students must take this course will be
discussed further before making any revisions to the current guidelines.
·
Pell Grants – President Nelson discussed the
effect that the proposed cuts in the federal budget would have on summer
financial aid for our students. The
proposed changes cut out year-round Pell funding and would require that Lincoln
University consider other options for the programs currently offered during the
summer months for which our students are able to receive federal funding.
·
Estimated
Student Billing – Every effort will be made to mail “estimated statements” to
the students as early as possible prior to the fall semester.

meeting at 11:30 a.m.
