ATTENDEES: President Ivory V. Nelson, Interim Vice President
Jerryl Briggs, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Vice President Howard E.
Merlin, Vice President Michael B. Hill, Dean Gladys J. Willis, Dean Judith
A.W.Thomas, and Ms. Diane M. Brown. Dean John O. Chikwem was in attendance
for the latter portion of the meeting.
MINUTES
Cabinet minutes of March 9, 2010 were approved.
DISCUSSION TOPICS
Teacher Education Center of Excellence – President Nelson presented
a discussion outline for a Teacher Education program with a focus on Urban
Pedagogy. Discussion on the topic was centered on developing a program to
present to colleagues in Philadelphia and other urban areas.
Lincoln University Student Suspension Policy – The University’s interim
suspension / suspension policy was discussed in relation to faculty concern
regarding missed class work by students placed on interim suspension. The
question whether provision can be made for students on interim suspension
to continue to receive class assignments was discussed. Those present agreed
that this is something that can be reviewed in the current policy.
FISCAL AFFAIRS
Budget preparation for 2010 – 2011 and implicating factors were discussed.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Science Conference – Dean Chikwem reminded the group of the Science Conference
taking place in the new science building on Saturday, March 20, 2010. Many
Lincoln alumni have been invited to participate so that our students can see
what they are now doing with their Lincoln University degree.
Bachelor of Human Services Program – Dean Willis indicated that the
proposal is now in committee. She is hopeful that the proposal will be brought
before the faculty in April.
