Draft Cabinet minutes of March 6, 2006 were approved.
Physical Plant Briefing
Mr. John Thompson provided a brief update on the status of various capital
projects. An additional $825,000 is needed to cover the cost overruns
for the planned renovation of University Hall and Ware Center.
Academic Affairs Budget Presentation
Vice President Venerable made a presentation on the proposed/projected budget
requirements for academic affairs for the 2006-2007 fiscal year. Dean
John Chikwem, Dean Judith Thomas, Dean Gladys Willis, Ms. Nancy Evans, Mr.
Patrick Hall, Ms. Nancy Kenner, Mr. James Simington and Ms. Janis Walker
were present to assist in the presentation. A follow up presentation
will be scheduled in two weeks.
Student News
The Lincoln University Men’s Basketball team was defeated by Virginia Wesleyan
in the Sweet 16, on Friday, March 10, 2006, in a very closely contested game.
Dean Briggs reported on an unfortunate incident after the game, which brought
on some unwarranted negative attention. Subsequently, his office received
calls from local and state police in Virginia who apologized for the over
zealous manner in which they responded to the incident. They have indicated
that formal, written apologies will be sent to the University.
Department of Education Audit
The PA Department of Education’s review of the Auditor General’s Statement
of Appropriations Earned Audit Report of Lincoln University for the year
ended June 30, 2004 established there are no findings or recommendations.
The audit is, therefore, considered closed.
