areas which, given additional
funding, would advance the university’s goal in student enhancement.
Some of
the areas mentioned included (1) purchase of 37 passenger vehicles to
transport
students, (2) student retention, (3) uniforms and equipment, and (4)
faculty
training in advising.
Athletics at Lincoln
University
President Nelson requested
that Student Affairs and
Enrollment Management draft a policy on the size of athletic teams for
adoption
by the Cabinet. Preliminary numbers
suggest that once all athletic teams are in place, the number of
student
athletes could likely be 170 male and 157 female.
The University anticipates that
we will field a marching
band of 120 members. Scholarships will
be provided for band members.
Academic Affairs
Lindback Junior Faculty Grants
Two Lincoln
University junior
faculty
members have submitted grant proposals for the Lindback Foundation
Career
Enhancement Minority Junior Faculty Grants.
The Lindback Foundation established the Program “..to improve
scholarly
opportunities for minority, junior full-time faculty at the colleges
and
universities which participate in the Lindback Distinguished Teaching
Award
program.” Eligible faculty must be
non-tenured.

President Nelson stressed the
importance of adhering to the
University policy regarding recruiting to fill positions.
All necessary paperwork must be completed and

new or

A summary of the second employee
health care survey was
presented to the Cabinet. The University
must make a decision soon as to which provider will be selected.
