Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Dean Gladys J. Willis, Dean John O. Chikwem,
Dean Judith A.W. Thomas and Ms. Diane M. Brown.
MINUTES
Cabinet minutes of February 9, 2010 were approved.
PRESIDENT
University Closing – President Nelson commended all those who worked
over the past week to clear the campus roads and parking lots of snow after
the snow storm last Wednesday. The physical plant and student affairs
staff coordinated efforts to prepare the campus so that the University could
re-open on Monday. The student affairs staff also made an outstanding
effort to provide for our students’ needs during the shut-down.
Assessment Plan – President Nelson requested that the Assessment Report
include data to show that the University’s decisions have been made based
on the assessment process. Dr. Venerable indicated that this information
will be included as Volume IV of the Report.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
Bachelor of Human Services (BHS) – Dean Willis informed the group
of the decisions that must be made relative to the implementation of the
BHS program. The question was raised as to whether restructuring the
Pre-Masters program might meet our objective.
Advancement to the Top (AT3) – Vice Presidents Venerable and Hill
provided update on AT3. A need for applications specialists was discussed.
It was agreed that the business office, human resources and the registrar’s
office may need a dedicated specialist for each area.
FISCAL AFFAIRS
Vice President Merlin provided summary information regarding the bids received
for the University’s 2010-2011 health coverage plan. A review of accounts
receivables and the budget variance analysis were also provided.
STUDENT AFFAIRS AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT
New Residence Hall – Three final vendors have been selected for the
project. The Committee will be meeting and talking to the finalists
again prior to the final selection.
