ATTENDEES: President Ivory V. Nelson, Executive Vice President Michael B.
Hill, Mr. Lloyd Asparagus for Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Dean John O.
Chikwem, Dean Gladys J. Willis, Dean Judith A.W. Thomas, and Ms. Diane M. Brown.
MINUTES
Cabinet meeting minutes of February
8, 2011 were approved.
ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
- Cabinet discussed Standard 14: Student Learning Assessment,
and the list of University majors provided by Dean Judith Thomas.
- Various options for acceptance into Lincoln
University’s Master of Human Services program were discussed. Dean Willis was asked to put plans in
place so that the various options can be offered in August. Advertising is to begin by June.
- Dean John Chikwem will
serve as the alternate for Dean Gladys Willis on the University’s
negotiating team for the faculty contract negotiations.
- Dr. Debbie Bullock
joined the Cabinet for discussion regarding faculty contract
negotiations. Dr. Bullock is
waiting on a response from the faculty negotiating team concerning dates
on which they are available to begin talks.
- President Nelson asked
that the deans inform Ms. Ashley Sims of all special events and request
audio/video coverage of the events.
STATE
BOARD OF EDUCATION
The state-related institutions have been asked to
work together to submit their nomination of one student to serve on the PA
State Board of Education. The student must
be continuously enrolled in a state-related university through May 2013. The deans were asked to identify and submit
the name of a qualified student to President Nelson as soon as possible.
FISCAL
AFFAIRS (Vice
President Howard E. Merlin joined the meeting via telephone)
Vice President Merlin provided bid results and
comparisons of the various bids received for Lincoln University’s 2011-2012
healthcare benefits.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, President Nelson adjourned the meeting at 12:15 p.m.
