Physical Plant Update
Sixteen 12’ x 64’ trailers will be leased to provide classroom and office
space during the renovation of Ware Center and University Hall.
The Physical Plant is reviewing plans to use Morris Hall to house displaced
administrative offices during the upcoming renovation of the Student Union
Building. The review will also compare the cost of necessary renovations
to Morris against the cost of leasing trailers to accommodate the displaced
offices.
President Nelson expressed his thanks and appreciation for the great job
done by the Physical Plant staff in removing the snow from the parking lots
and walkways following the recent storm.

Black History Month Radio Series
Lincoln University has teamed with KWYNews Radio (1060 AM) as the sponsor
of a series highlighting the achievements of African Americans in celebration
of Black History Month. The Lincoln University advertisements feature
announcements about Lincoln University recorded by President Ivory Nelson.
The recorded advertisements about Lincoln University will be aired beginning
February 13 and continue throughout the month of February.
Contract Awarded for Roof Replacement Capital Projects
The Department of General Services has awarded the contract for Lincoln University’s
roof replacement project to the firm of Garvey Roark, Inc., located in West
Chester, PA. The project includes roof replacement of Grim, Wright
and Dickey Halls.
Audit of Purchasing/Accounts Payable Activity
Lincoln’s internal auditor has completed an audit of the purchasing/accounts
payable functions. The audit found that most policies and procedures
are being adhered to, but that management attention is needed in regard to
proper bidding and bid waivers. Recommendations to strengthen procedures
and controls in the exception areas have been made.
Governor’s Budget 2006-2007
The Governor’s 2006-2007 Budget includes $22,600,000 in capital funding for
Lincoln University. The projects include $15 million dollars for campus
and grounds renovation, $4.5 million dollars for original furniture and equipment,
science classroom building, and $3.1 million dollars for original furniture
and equipment, construction of International Cultural Center.
U.S. Department of the Interior Appropriations Act
The U.S. Department of the Interior is anticipating that its Appropriations
Act will provide FY 2006 funding for preservation grants to repair historic
buildings located on HBCU campuses. Lincoln University will look into
whether the Mary Dod Brown Chapel might qualify for a grant. The Dept.
of Interior grants must be matched at a ratio of 70 percent Federal to 30
percent nonfederal funds.
There being no further business, President Nelson adjourned the meeting at
