Attendees:  President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President William B. Bynum, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Dr. Renford A.B. Brevett for Vice President Michael B. Hill, Mr. Steve Carol for Vice President Howard E. Merlin, and Ms. Diane M. Brown.  Attending for portion of meeting: Mr. John Thompson, Director of Physical Plant
 
 
MINUTES
 
Cabinet minutes of February 6, 2008, were approved as corrected.
 
PHYSICAL PLANT
 
Library Renovation
The state will begin the renovation of the Langston Hughes Memorial Library (LHML) on February 19, 2008.  Once the work begins, the facility is no longer Lincoln’s, but under the complete control of the state until the project is completed.
 
Cresson Hall
The work on the laundry room is proceeding on schedule.  Physical Plant has no concerns about the structure in the balance of the building.
 
Ware Center
Temporary security cameras will be installed in Ware Theatre until the permanent devices can be put in place.
 
Student Union Building
It is estimated that the “Certificate of Occupancy” may be issued as early as March.  We do not, however, expect the facility to be fully operational until the fall semester.
  
PRESIDENT
 
Cabinet discussed the topic “defining academic excellence.”

There being no further business, President Nelson adjourned the meeting at 11:00 a.m.
