Minutes of the January 8, 2003 Cabinet Meeting were approved.
University Check Cashing Policy The IRS audited the University's Western Union and check cashing records and procedures in December 2002. There were no findings as a result of the audit. However, it was determined that although an instance has not occurred, the University should establish a written policy that the cashier will not cash checks over $1,000. This will be done immediately.
Strategic Plan Updates to the Strategic Plan are to be provided to the President's Office as soon as possible. The updated 2003-2006 Strategic Plan should be ready for distribution before the end of January.
Student Affairs and Enrollment Management The following was reported for Spring 2003 enrollment:
* Seventy-two (72) students were suspended for the spring semester due to unsatisfactory academic progression. This represents an impact of $684,000 on the 2002-03 operating budget (72 students x $9,500). The number of students not returning this spring is up from the previous year.
* A total of 127 new students have been registered (66 undergraduate; 61 graduate) ü December graduates totaled 71 (38 walked in May; 33 new December graduates).
The Cabinet meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.
