President's Cabinet Meeting
January 6, 2004
Attendees: President Ivory V. Nelson, Vice President Grant D. Venerable, Vice President Michael B. Hill, Vice President Howard E. Merlin, Dean Jerryl Briggs and Ms. Diane M. Brown; Attending for portion of meeting: Mr. John Thompson and Mr. Steve Carol
The Cabinet approved the minutes of the December 15, 2003 meeting.
The IT department determined the cause of the email difficulties encountered before the holiday break and has implemented changes to prevent a recurrence of the same type of attack in the future.
· 11 wireless panels have been installed on campus (2 not yet fully operable)
· 23 laptops have been purchased primarily for faculty use
· 101 new computers have been ordered. They will replace all equipment in the three public labs,
Dickey Hall, Library and LLC214, older equipment in department labs and teaching labs and
should be installed by mid February
· Student email accounts should be up by mid February
Steam Boiler: 60% complete. The temporary boilers are operating. However, one or two have been malfunction at different times causing heat loss to the affected buildings. Lincoln University and DGS will be expected to assume a portion of the cost of providing this temporary heat to campus buildings. The University's portion is not to exceed the University's total oil costs for last year.
Fire & Security: 60% complete
Storm Water Drain: 40% complete
Communications & Electrical Distribution: 78% complete
Sewer Line: 78% complete
Water Distribution: 30% complete
Phase 2 Sewer Plant: Final design has been approved. Start date TBD
New Boiler: Bid package to be issued soon.
Lincoln University's 2003-2004 State Appropriation
The PA Legislature authorized Lincoln's appropriation for Fiscal Year 2003-2004 in the amount of $12,155,000 for Educational and General Expenses.
Auditor General's Audit Report of Lincoln University - Year Ended June 30, 2002
The PA Department of Education Bureau of Budget and Fiscal Management has reviewed the Auditor General's Statement of Appropriations Earned Audit Report of Lincoln University for the year ended June 30, 2002. Their review established that there are no findings or recommendations. The Department therefore considers this audit closed.
The Cabinet meeting was adjourned at 12:15 PM.
