Ms Briquel Sherman

Briquel has recently gained admission to the Masters of Public
Health Program at the University of Michigan, USA. This program
is internationally known in the public health community.
Briquel transferred to Lincoln University from Xavier University
of Louisiana. She was the recipient of three competitive internships
– Summer Research Intern at the University of Iowa Biosciences
Summer Research Internship, Prostate Cancer Research Internship
2006, and Doctors Hospital Medical Summer Intern, Nassau, Bahamas
2005.
Briquel’s goal is to work in an environment that will provide
the best experience and opportunities to enhance her skills, so
that she may perform at her optimum levels, as she pursues her career
in science and medicine. She is well on her way. To date Briquel
skills are: 1. Laboratory: Gel Electrophoresis, DNA isolation, Cloning
and Quantification, Cell Culturing and Preparation, Transfections,
Pour-Plate and Spread-Plate Techniques, Microscopy, Injections in
laboratory animals and animal care.
2. Clinical: Giving injections, assisting in medical procedures,
suturing wounds, organization of medical files, updating Medical
records
Briquel is currently working as a Research Techinician I at the
Penn State College of Medicine, in the Cell and Molecular Physiology
Department, Juvenile Diabetes Retinopathy Research Lab where she
performs a variety of experiments and analysis following standardized
procedures and works with laboratory animals such as rats and mice,
performing duties such as inducing diabetes, inserting insulin implants,
breeding mice, blood glucose testing and phenotyping their DNA.
While at the University of Iowa Graduate School and the US Veterans
Hospital Briquel had the opportunity to perform gel electrophoresis,
DNA isolations, cloning, transfections, pour- plate and spread plate
techniques and PCR's.
Again, ORDPC is very proud of Ms Briquel Sherman and wish her continued
success.
