Bylaws

Article XV of the National Bylaws establish that only stipulation for local bylaws is that they do not conflict with National Bylaws.

Officers and Election Process

Section One

  1. Officers on the national level are elected for a term of two years; therefore officers in the Lincoln Section can be elected for a term of two years. They also can be elected for a term of one year. This decision should be left up to the president and advisor of the organization.
  2. No officer can serve more than three consecutive terms. 
Duties of Officers

Section Two

  1. Duties are subject to change from year to year. The president and advisor of the organization should approve any changes made to officerâs duties. Any officer who does not fulfill the duties of their position will be.

Responsibilities for Executive Board Positions

President

  1. To facilitate and organize all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To be accountable for all events, programs and fundraisers.
  3. To establish all necessary committees.
  4. To delegate responsibilities to members and officers.
  5. To effectively communicate with the advisor, members and officers of NCNW.
  6. To work efficiently with administration, faculty and other student organizations.

Vice President of Internal Affairs

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To oversee progress and account for all NCNW committees and report to the president.
  3. To establish a system of checks and balance with the treasurer.
  4. To establish and develop an advertising campaign for all events, meetings and activities.
  5. To fill in for the President whenever necessary.

Vice President of External Affairs

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To organize Patron and Ad campaign for the luncheon.
  3. To make sure all Senate meetings are attended.
  4. To fill in for President whenever needed.

Recording Secretary

  1. To attend all chapter and executive board meetings.
  2. To take minutes at every meeting.
  3. To type any documents needed for the organization.
  4. To present minutes at every meeting.
  5. To be a reliable right hand to the president and vice presidents.

Treasurer

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To present a financial report at every meeting.
  3. To handle all money and deposit it into the bank within 3 business days of receipt.
  4. To keep a financial report and bank statements current on a monthly basis.
  5. To pay any money as delegated by the president.
  6. To compete a yearly audit with advisor and president in April.

Senator

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings unless there is a senate meeting.
  2. To attend all senate meetings.
  3. To present a report of minutes from the senate meetings.
  4. To effectively communicate with the Alternate senator.

Alternate Senator

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings unless there is a senate meeting.
  2. To attend senate meetings that the senator cannot attend.
  3. To effectively present a report of minutes from the senate meetings attended.
  4. To effectively communicate with the senator.

Queen

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To serve as the head of the Homecoming Committee.
  3. To attend the coronation of Mr. & Ms. Lincoln University and present a gift on behalf of NCNW.
  4. To represent NCNW in any capacity. Parades, Community Service, etc.

Historian

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To compile a history of the Lincoln University Chapter of NCNW.
  3. To maintain all decorative items of NCNW. Posters, Banners, etc.
  4. To maintain NCNW website.
  5. To take all pictures of NCNW events, programs and activities.

Parliamentarian

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To maintain order in all chapter and executive meetings.
  3. To serve as the head of the Regulations of Duty Committee.

Chaplain

  1. To attend all chapter and executive meetings.
  2. To draw upon religious resources to enhance creative relationships and the meaning in the work of NCNW.

Dues and Fees

Section Three

    1. National Student Dues are $10.00. Annual dues are $25.00 for all others.
    2. Lincoln University Section dues are $10.00.
    3. Dues are subject to change due to the rising costs accumulated by NCNW on the national and local level.
    4. The section advisor must approve any change in the cost of dues.
    5. The annual dues of a Junior Section are based on its fair share quota. The minimum ãFair Shareä is $50.00.
    6. Since NCNW is a non-profit organization, all donations and purchases made by the National Council of Negro Women is tax deductible to the extent of the law.

Committees

Section Four

    1. The president and vice presidents will develop all committees.
    2. An executive board member should head all committees.

Longevity of the Lincoln University Section

Section Five

    1. Considering that the president of NCNW is a senior, that president must train someone of different classification to continue the organizations initiatives.
    2. All Lincoln University Section presidents must insure that the members of the NCNW are informed of the history, p procedures and purpose of NCNW.
