Inserting Comments in a Word 2003 Document

To Insert a Comment
  1. Move your cursor to the place in your text where you want to insert a comment. 
  2. Click on INSERT menu and then  “Comment.”
  3. A box will open at the bottom of the screen or a balloon will open up in the side margin, depending on whether you are in Print or in Normal view.  Type your comment there.
  4. When you have finished the comment, click on the Close button.
To Read a Comment
  1. Without clicking, position your mouse over the highlighted text.
  2. The comment will appear. (If you are reading in Print view, the comment will appear in a balloon in the right margin.)
To Edit a Comment 
  1. Right-click on the comment you want to edit. 
  2. Choose “Edit comment” from the menu that appears.  A box containing the comment will open at the bottom of the screen in the side margin. You can edit it by inserting or deleting text just as you would with any Word document. 
  3. When you have finished, click on the Close button.
To Delete a Comment
  1. Right-click on the comment you want to delete. 
  2. Choose “Delete comment” from the menu that appears. 
  3. The highlighting will disappear and the comment will be deleted.
To Print Only the Inserted Comments in a Document
  1. Click on FILE >print. 
  2. In the Print dialogue box that appears, click on the upside-down triangle beside the “print what” box, select “comments” and click OK. 
  3. The comments will print out, identified by page number and by the initials of the person who inserted them.
