University Conducting Concert Choir and Concert Band Scholarship
On-Campus Auditions June 2-July 3; Students with Singing
and Musical Instrument Talent are Encouraged to Try Out
Lincoln is offering musical scholarships to potential
band and choir members.
University, PA (www.lincoln.edu)The Lincoln
University Concert Choir and Concert Band are currently
conducting on-campus auditions for students with singing
and musical instrument talent. Students who earn a place
on in the band or choir may be eligible for scholarships
ranging between $1,000-$2,500 for the 2003-2004 academic
year. Auditions began on June 2 and will continue through
According to Dr. William B. Garcia, artistic director
of the Lincoln Concert Choir and chair of the Universitys
Department of Visual and Performing Arts, both performing
groups are seeking students who have prior musical experience----such
as singing or playing an instrument for a church or high
school/community choir or band, or have taken formal music
lessons. Dr. Garcia and band director David Gaines said
current Lincoln students as well as students who are considering
attending the University, are encouraged to apply.
The Concert Choir and Concert Band are looking to
expand our collective talent pools, said Dr. Garcia.
While we currently have a number of gifted Lincoln
students in the concert choir and band, we have lost some
students to graduation. Through these scholarship auditions,
we hope to replace those students and perhaps acquire
some diamonds in the rough.
If you are interested in auditioning for Lincolns
Concert Choir and Concert Band, please call Dr. Garcia
at (610) 932-1292. You may also contact Dr. Garcia via
