Al Sharpton Inspires Audience at Universitys Parents
Day Luncheon
For
the Parents Day Luncheon on Sunday, March 21, 2004,
Lincoln welcomed the Rev. Al Sharpton as the keynote speaker
to an overflowing crowd in the Auxiliary Gymnasium of Manuel
Rivero Hall. Sharpton, a 2004 Democratic Presidential candidate,
gave a powerful speech that encouraged students to have
hope and perseverance despite obstacles. The following are
scenes from Sharpton's visit.

Lincoln
senior Chelsea Bridgewater presented the Rev. Al Sharpton
with a plaque from the Universitys student chapter
of the National Action Network (NAN). Sharpton is the founder
of the organization which helps create political awareness
among minorities around the globe. Rev. Sharpton was also
presented with plaque of appreciation from the University
by Lincoln President Ivory V. Nelson, Ph.D.
