The
Learning Resource Center staff provides
tutoring services to ALL enrolled students
at ALL academic levels at Lincoln University.
The Learning Resource Center consists of
the Reading, Writing and Math/Science Laboratories.
The lab staff is committed to providing
all students with tutoring services to improve
their college performance. Tutoring may
also serve as a refresher for students entering
the educational system after a long absence.
Labs are available for individual help with
study skills, writing papers, reading, math,
sciences, and special projects. The aim
of the laboratories is to provide students
with learning experiences that will enhance
their chances to excel academically and
earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher, which make
academic scholarships a reality. Students
should continue to use the Reading, Writing
and Math/Science Labs to prepare for advanced
skills needed in graduate/professional schools
and management positions.
Reading Laboratory
The professional tutors in the Reading Lab
provide individual assistance to each student.
Required labs are assigned to students by
the Education Department for the following
courses: Reading & Study Skills (Edu
100) and Critical Reading Skills (Edu 101).
Attention is given to the mastery of the
content in these areas and development of
efficient and productive study habits. Activities
include speed reading, creative works reading,
and vocabulary practice.
Lab Hours are: Monday through Friday,
9:00 am—5:00 pm.
Writing
Laboratory
The professional tutors in the Writing Lab
provide expert individual assistance to
each student. Required labs are assigned
to students by the English Department for
the following courses: Basic Writing Skills
I (Eng 100) and Basic Writing Skills II
(Eng 101). Laboratory activities, specially
tailored to each student’s needs,
provide guidance and practice in college-level
writing and research skills. A diagnostic
activity early in the semester helps tutors
develop a plan for academic success specific
to each student’s needs.
Lab Hours are: Monday through Friday,
9:00 am—5:00 pm.
Math/Science
Laboratory
The professional and student tutors in the
Math/Science Lab offer individual, as well
as group, assistance and mentoring while
concentrating on teaching students how to
use problem-solving skills. Tutoring is
available for all levels of math, biology,
physics, chemistry, engineering, and computer
science. The Math/Science Lab has extensive
evening hours to accommodate the busy academic
schedules of Lincoln University students.
All students must successfully pass core
math classes in order to graduate.
Lab Hours are: Monday through Friday,
3:00 pm—10:00 pm (available by appointment),
unless otherwise noted.
