Use Catalog to Find a Book
Start by putting the search term into the box under SEARCH FOR. Unless you know the TITLE or the AUTHOR
of the book you need, SEARCH BY using a KEYWORD.

The results will look something like the next screen shot. Notice that result number 1 has GREAT BRIDGE in the title.
This screen gives us enough information to find the book in the library:
- LOCATION (show exactly where in the library)
- CALL NUMBER (is like an address on the shelf)
- STATUS (tells us if the book is checked out to someone else).
Note: Clicking on the TITLE will bring more information about the book.
Be sure to write down BOTH the LOACTION and the CALL NUMBER.
Short list of LOCATIONS:
- MAIN: 3rd and 4th floor
- Special Collections (includes AFR, TBO, SNC) enter on 2nd floor across from Circulation Desk
- Reference: 2nd floor
- New Display: 2nd floor
- Course Reserve (includes Circulation, Desk Reserve): Circulation Desk
- Curriculum: 2nd floor
- Curriculum Ref.: 2nd floor
- Oversize: 3rd floor after call number Z
- Acquisitions: book is new and not on shelf yet
The RELEVANCE section (see the next screen shot) works like the antenna signal on your cell phone. The more bars the
greater relevance to your search. Fewer bars means that the book might not be what you are looking for. You might
need to try a new SEARCH TERM to get results with more bars.

Use Catalog to Find a Course Reserve
A Course Reserve is a book, article or DVD that a Professor has asked the Library to make available to the
students in her/his class. These items ARE NOT to leave the Library. To get a Course Reserves, see the Circulation Desk.
To find out if your Professor has placed an item on Course Reserve for your class, follow these
instructions:

Use the Drop down boxes to find Course Reserve items by Instructor, Department or Course. Most often the easiest way
is to look up the name of the Professor:

If you do not know the name of the Professor, but you know it is a English class you can look it up that way.

Click the SEARCH button to see what TITLES are on Course Reserve.
Check your Class Syllabus for the correct TITLE, AUTHOR and EDITION.
