The Department offers majors in French, French Education, Spanish, and Spanish Education. It also offers minors in Arabic, French, Japanese, and Spanish.
The French Major

The French Education Major
A student wishing to become a French language teacher must complete a major in French, and satisfy all the requirements for a second major in Secondary Education. The requirements for a second major in Secondary Education are defined by he Department of Education.
EDU-201 Introduction to Education – 3 credits (Praxis I)
EDU-202 Educational Psychology – 3 credits
EDU-203 Education and Psychology of the Exceptional Child - Field 1 – 3 credits
EDU-205 Communication for Teachers - Field 1 – 3 credits
EDU-206 Foundations of Special Education - Field 2 - 3 credits
EDU-207 Sophomore Field Experience - Fields 2 and 3 - 1 credit
EDU-208 Educational Technology - 3 credits
EDU-223 Academic Development of ELL/ESL - 3 credits
Students must pass ALL three sections of Praxis I before taking 300-level or higher courses.
