The School of Humanities, Graduate Studies and Honors
Policy on Completion of Old and New Core Requirements
To graduate, students under the new Humanities core curriculum must satisfy the following requirements:
Part I
A. One course in Art or Music (3 credits)
B. One course in Philosophy or Religion (3 credits)
--a minimum of 6 credits--
Students under the old Humanities core curriculum will be required to take 6-8 credits in the above curriculum categories – based on the following situations:
- Students who have taken three 2-credit courses will have met the requirement for introductory art, music, philosophy and religion (6 credits total)
- Students who have taken one 2-credit intro. course will have to take two 3-credit courses to include A and B categories. (8 credits total))
- Students who have taken two 2-credit intro. courses will have to take one 3-credit course in either A or B category. (7 credits total)
- Students who have taken no introduction courses will take two 3-credit courses to include A and B categories. (6 credits total)
Part II
All students under the old and new curriculum will now take only one world literature class (English 207 or English 208). Other alternatives are on hold at the present time.
PREREQUISITE COURSES
- The prerequisite course for admission to introduction
courses in art, music, religion and philosophy is English 102.
- The prerequisite course for admission to world literature
courses is English 103.
2006-2007
