Lincoln University Onyx Dance Troup has made an overwhelming comeback since 2000. Among some of the prestigious events the team has been a part of include performing during the 2002 NBA Jam in Philadelphia and the Boeing Airport Black History Celebration. Recently, they finished third in the Eastern Regional Competition hosted by Phi-Beta Sigma Lambala Upsulon Chapter of West Chester University.

The group is also an active part of the community. They are involved with Bethanna Foster Care Agency in Philadelphia. They recently hosted the first annual Performance Improvement Participation Society (PIPS) community service project in January. They danced in the fashion show that was organized by Gracie Berry. The group is always in demand and a favorite of numerous campus organizations. They have performed at several on-campus functions such as parents day, homecoming, pump handle, talent shows, Mr & Mrs. Lincoln pageants and open house.

We share a love for dance and we take pride in keeping the dance tradition here at Lincoln University alive,” Berry said. “We hope to host our first dance recital (in the future). We are diverse in our dancing style, which is great so that different groups will want us to dance.”

For those interested in being a part of the excitement of this prestigious organization, tryouts are held at the beginning of each semester. Signs are usually posted around campus at least three weeks in advance of the tryout date. The organization encourages male students to tryout.
