LINCOLN UNIVERSITY
OFFICE OF HEALTH SERVICES
HEALTH AWARENESS – NEWS
FLASH!
In light of
the recent outbreak of Chicken Pox through out The United States
at various colleges and universities, The Center for Disease and
Control (CDC) will be changing the Varicella – Chicken Pox
vaccination recommendations starting the summer of 2007.
The Health Service will now require that all students
must provide proof of two doses of the Varicella vaccine or a
positive blood titers test. All new students must get their
blood titers tests through their primary doctor. This requirement
also means that if your child had Chicken Pox as a child or a
mild case of Chicken Pox as a child, you still must provide proof
of immunity of the disease by getting a blood test of titers or
show two vaccinations dates to meet the requirements. Students
and parents stating your child had the disease already will not
be valid or accepted under no circumstances.
ALL PROOF
OF COMPLETED BLOOD RESULTS FOR ALL NEW INCOMING STUDENTS MUST
BE EITHER MAILED INTO OR FAXED (FAX #: 484-365-7287) INTO THE
HEALTH SERVICE OFFICE NO LATER THAN AUGUST 1, 2008.
Lincoln University’s
Office of Health Services will provide the Varicella – Chicken
Pox vaccine on campus for all incoming students and can be administered
by our staff nurses. Again, Proof of immunity
by titers or one dose of Varicella – Chicken Pox must be
provided. If the requirement is not met … then a
Varicella vaccination will be administered upon arrival at The
Health Services Office. The cost of the vaccination will
be $90.00 paid by cash or a money order only.
All college required vaccinations are available at the Health
Services Office throughout the summer of 2008. Please call
the Health Services Office to schedule an appointment.
*** PLEASE
NOTE: STUDENTS THAT DO NOT PROVIDE PROOF OF ALL REQUIREMENTS (COLLEGE
PHYSICAL EXAM, SPORT PHYSICAL EXAM, AND ALL REQUIRED VACCINATIONS)
WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO MOVE INTO THEIR DORMITORIES.
VACCINATIONS
ARE AVAILABLE TO BE ADMINISTERED AT THE HEALTH SERVICES OFFICE
DURING THE ENTIRE SUMMER OF 2008. PLEASE CALL TO SCHEDULE
AN APPOINTMENT AT 484-365-7331.
