First Year Experience
Syllabus Background
On 4th April 2006, the Lincoln University Faculty voted to accept the recommendation of the Joint Committees of Educational Policies and Curriculum to establish the First Year Experience course (FYE 101). The FYE committee convened during the summer of 2006 to review the faculty charges and determine the design as well as the implementation of FYE 101. All FYE courses will be based on common characteristics, share the same purpose and will be designed to accomplish the same goals.

Sample Syllabus, Revised 2007
This document is the recommended syllabus for faculty members teaching FYE 101. The committee asks all FYE instructors to carefully consider each section of this document. Where there is an ambiguity or vagueness, instructors are encouraged to provide the necessary information that will reflect their own philosophy, teaching style and classroom management. Customization and minor modifications are expected; however, the committee strongly advises all instructors to adhere closely to university policies where applicable.
