Overview
of Student Employment
Student
Employment job placement and payroll processes
are serviced through the Office of Retention
& Student Services, located in 103 Lincoln
Hall. The Coordinator is Whitney G. Walton,
who can be reached at (484) 365-8000, extension
3591 or wwalton@lincoln.edu.
Office hours are Monday, Wednesday & Friday
1pm - 4pm and Tuesday & Thursday 9am-12pm.
Student
Employment posts a listing of available positions
each academic year. If positions have changed
or been added, the list will reflect all changes
once the hiring department forwards changes
to Student Employment. Some listed positions
are also available through Institutional Work
Aid (IWA). IWA are those in which the student
is paid from the budget of the hiring department.
Contact the individual departments directly
to verify the availability of the positions
listed. Upon interviewing with a department
of interest, and the student is hired, the
student contacts Student Employment to complete
all required hiring paperwork.
What
is Federal Work Study and Institutional Work
Aid?
Through
the Federal Work Study (FWS) Program, undergraduate
and graduate students work part time to help
pay for the cost of their education.
Eligibility
is based on financial need, not whether a
student would like to work or not. In order
to be considered for eligibility for FWS,
the student must complete the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by Lincoln
University's April 1st deadline date. As the
need varies for each student each year, a
student may not be eligible every year they
are enrolled.
Students
must have "FWS" in their financial aid award
letter in order to be eligible for Federal
Work Study positions. FWS awards are listed
in the financial aid award letter in the "TYPE
OF AID" section.
The
Institutional Work Aid (IWA) Program is one
in which the funds are not awarded by the
Office of Financial Aid, nor is there a need
based requirement. Institutional Work Aid
funds are those awarded to students from a
specific department's budget. Every department
does not hire students through Institutional
Work Aid. Some departments only hire students
awarded Federal Work Study monies.
How
Many Hours Can Students Work Per Week?
Students (except Resident Advisors) cannot
work more than 20 hours per week when classes
are in session. During academic breaks, students
may work up to 40 hours per week. The amount
a student earns cannot exceed the total Federal
Work Study or Institutional Work Aid award.
When assigning work hours, your employer will
consider your class schedule and your academic
progress.

Wage

Wage Rates The student pay scale is three-tiered.
The three tiers are based upon the difficulty/simplicity

higher wages.

or vacation days. Students are not eligible to
