Applying for Your Loan Just Got Easier

ATTENTION STUDENTSHow to Complete Your Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Federal Stafford Loans
(Students Only)
(Subsidized and Unsubsidized)

If a Federal Stafford Loan is part of your financial aid package, your Federal Stafford Loan proceeds cannot be credited to your student account until you follow the instructions below.

  • Click on "Stafford Loans," then "Apply Now" under "Find Aid For School"
  • Read loan (MPN) welcome information and click continue
  • Click "Create an Account" to create a username and password. Please keep your username and password in a safe place!
  • Verify information and submit
  • Upon successful completion click "Continue"
  • Choose school location (Pennsylvania) and school name (Lincoln University)
  • Select your lender from the drop down menu of Lincoln University's preferred lenders
  • Enter personal information and click "Continue"
  • Enter reference information and click "Continue"
  • Select how you would like to sign your MPN and click "Continue" (PIN signature is highly recommended!)
  • Follow instructions based on your signature option
  • Read and follow instructions for final submission and/or mailing

STUDENTS: If you do not have access to complete your MPN on-line, we will gladly mail you an application or we will assist you in completing the MPN when you report to campus. Please see your Financial Aid Counselor in Lincoln Hall, Room 101.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are a freshman and/or this is your first time borrowing, you must complete your student loan entrance counseling on-line after you sign your MPN.


How to Complete Your Entrance Counseling / Exit Review

Federal Regulations require Lincoln University to administer entrance loan counseling to all student loan borrowers before they receive their loan proceeds. Exit loan counseling must be completed by all student loan borrowers who leave school, drop below half-time status, or graduate. Even if you plan to return to school at a later date you must still complete exit counseling. Please follow the instructions below to complete both Federal Stafford and Perkins Loan entrance and exit counseling.

  • Under "Find Aid for School" click on Entrance and Exit Counseling.
  • Read the instructions and select your counseling session under "Online Student Loan Counseling" section.
  • Choose Pennsylvania for school state and select Lincoln University for school and click "Continue."
  • Again choose Pennsylvania for the "U.S. State or territory" and click "Continue."
  • Also choose Lincoln University for "Now, select your school" and click "Continue."
  • Read Mapping Your Future: Online Student Loan Counseling Instructions. Click "I Agree" to start test. 
  • When the test is finished, complete the Borrower Information Form and click "Continue".
  • Complete the personal reference information and click "Submit."
  • Print your counseling confirmation page for your records.
  • An electronic message will be sent to the Financial Aid Office once you've completed your counseling.

You have 10 days from the receipt of this notice to go online and complete entrance or exit counseling.

ATTENTION PARENTS

Before applying for the Federal PLUS Loan you must complete the Federal PLUS Loan Pre-Qualification Request Form (provided by the Office of Financial Aid) to determine if you will be approved or denied.

How to Complete Your Approved Federal Plus Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Federal Plus Loan
(For Parent Only)

If a Federal PLUS Loan is part of your child's financial aid package, your Federal PLUS Loan proceeds cannot be credited to the student's account until you follow the instructions below to complete the Federal PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note.

  • Log onto www.pin.ed.gov and apply for your PIN number as a parent (refer to PIN postcard for instructions). A PIN number is mandatory. It will be required to sign your Federal PLUS MPN electronically.
  • You must retrieve your pin number from your e-mail within five days of applying.
  • Once PIN is retrieved, log on to www.aessuccess.org to complete Federal PLUS Loan MPN.
  • Click "Parent PLUS Loans" under "Find Aid for School" then click "Apply Now."
  • Follow the instructions on how to complete your Federal PLUS MPN online, and click "Continue".
  • Click "Create an Account," to create username and password.
  • Verify your information and click "Submit".
  • Upon successful completion, click "Continue".
  • Enter your dependent student's Social Security Number, click "Continue".
  • Choose school location (Pennsylvania), school name (Lincoln University), and click "Continue".
  • Enter loan period (8/2008 - 4/2009), and click "Continue".
  • Select the lender from the drop down menu and click "Continue".
  • Once you have completed the requested information in its entirety, click "Submit."
  • Your signature options will appear (PIN signature is highly recommended)
  • Follow remaining signature requirements.

INSTRUCTIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

We request that you follow-up with AES/PHEAA (1-800-692-7392) shortly after you have completed the online application to ensure it has been received.
