PRAXIS INFORMATION
The
Praxis exams are used in order to gain certification as a teacher in
Pennsylvania. The exams are broken into two parts, Praxis I and Praxis
II.
Pennsylvania State Requirements
Each
state has different requirements that need to be completed for Praxis I

Praxis I
The
Praxis I exam is used to assess students' general knowledge in reading,
writing, and mathematics. Lincoln University students that plan
on majoring in education need to pass two of the three sections in
order to get into the major. Successful completion of all three
sections is needed in order to graduate. The following link outlines

Praxis II
The
Praxis II exam is used to assess students' knowledge of general
teaching skills, teaching knowledge, and specific subject areas.
All of these tests are specific to the major of the student (i.e.
Elementary Education, Biology Education, etc.). The following

Registration for Exams
All
Praxis exams are given in a paper form and computer form. The
paper exams are given during select times at select testing cites
throughout the year. All results of the paper exams take 4-6 weeks. The

The
computer exams are offered at any time throughout the year at select
testing centers. Computer exams need to be scheduled about one
month in advance. All results of the computer exams are presented
at the completion of the exam (with the exception of written portions

Students can register for the exam online: PRAXIS REGISTRATION.
Students can also register with a paper application to be sent in
by mail. Paper applications can be picked up at the Education
Department.
Completing Registration Forms
Lincoln
University students needs to send their scores to Lincoln University.
When completing registration forms, the Attending Institution
code is:

Paying for the Exam
Students have three options for paying for the exam
1. Pay with a credit card or check to ETS (the makers of the test)
2.
Charge the test to their account and pay at a later date. The
paperwork for this process needs to be completed three months before
taking any Praxis exam. Students can see the Education
Department's secretary for the paperwork.
3. If students have
trouble paying for the exam, they can complete a waiver form with ETS.
The waiver covers the expenses of one exam. To see eligibility

Accommodations for the Exams
The
tests provides accomodations for students with documented disabilities.

Understanding Your Praxis Scores
The
score reports given to exam completers provide detailed information.

One
of the keys to success with the Praxis exams is to thoroughly prepare
and create a study plan. The following links will help students

Some
may experience test anxiety. This document provides tips on how
to reduce test anxiety in order to feel more comfortable taking the
Praxis exams.
Preparing for Praxis I
ETS
provides free documents entitled Test at a Glance. These
documents provide basic information about the test, such as test
length, number of questions, test format, and topics covered.
Each document also provides sample questions to help students
study for the exam. The Reading and Mathematics sections provide
questions that were on form exams. The Writing sections have 75
prompts. All of the prompts are currently being used on exams.

Students
can schedule to do a free webinars for Praxis I. Webinars are an
interactive way to have an ETS representative instruct about the exam
and how to study for it.
2. STUDY GUIDES
ETS provides study guides for each exam for a fee. The study guides are in book form and electronic-book form.
