Say 'Hello' to our new Learning Management System

Desire2Learn Pilot

During the spring, 2011 semester, several faculty and students piloted Desire2Learn. It isn't easy changing from a known to an unknown, but these intrepid few are forging ahead.

Desire2Learn (D2L) is a web-based learning management system that will replace WebCT in the 2011-2012 academic year. D2L provides a rich learning environment for students and easy-to-use tools for submitting documents, taking quizzes, communicating, and working in groups.

It has all the features of WebCT plus online rubrics and student outcomes assessment, lockers for students to store their work, and the ability to personalize your portal, including putting up a picture. It can be used to add special components to classroom based courses and distance learning courses such as:

  • online resources
  • online assessment
  • online assignment dropbox
  • online course calendar
  • online gradebook
