Position Description:  Assist members by answering questions; equipment orientation; incentive programs and special events.  
Skills and Abilities Required:    Must be able to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am-4pm. Must be health science major; excellent customer service skills; able to lift 40lbs; knowledge of Microsoft respectful and professional; must be able to work on a team; good communication and listening skills.

Desk Coordinator

Position Description:  Organize swim lessons; engage parents at Aquatics front desk; work in conjunction with Head Lifeguard to complete duties.  
Skills and Abilities Required:    Strong swimming ability; able to lift 40lbs; remain alert and engaged at the pool; come prepared with swimsuit, towel, etc.

School Age Child Care Assistant

Position Description:  Assist and supervise children activities, homework, and lessons; work with site director to understand daily activities, and administrative duties.  
Skills and Abilities Required:    Must demonstrate excellent communication skills with students, staff, and parents; must have patience; take CPR class provided by YMCA; must be outgoing.

Position Description:  Assist teachers with gym class, crafts, and activities; make bulletin board displays; read at story time; engage parents and children; other duties as assigned.

Position Description:  Assist teacher with setup/breakdown of sporting events; keep score of games; referee youth sports; other duties as assigned.  
Skills and Abilities Required:    Must be outgoing and personable; understand YMCA’s core values and mission; previouis athletic/sports experience preferred; must able to life 20lbs; must enjoy being around children.


Students interested in working off-campus must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be eligible to receive at least $1200 in Federal Work Study (See Dr. Marlayne Manley, Ext. 7290, Wright Hall, 113)
  • Upperclassmen
  • Must have cumulative 2.5 GPA or above
  • Must have reliable transportation
