Entrepreneurship Mentor Sheldon B. Saidman
Mr. Saidman is a vastly experienced executive with over 40 years of increasingly responsible positions with leading-edge corporations, both public and private. His extensive operations background includes positions held as President and Chief Operating Officer in highly successful companies ranging in size from $60 to $350 million.
He has been in a leadership position in a variety of businesses in industries that include paper, software, wire and cable, office products, document solution products, and magnetic media. He possesses a profound understanding of all business disciplines; however, his area of recognized expertise is in the sales and marketing functions. He has a well-established record of significantly increasing a company's market share, revenues, and profit margins in fields known to be highly competitive.
He has been involved in several change-of-ownership negotiations, and depending on his enterprise affiliation, has participated in either the buy or the sell side of a particular transaction.
Following Mr. Saidman's 18 years with the IBM Corporation, he played key roles in senior management posts for recognized companies, notably, Division President, Bowater, Incorporated, Division General Manager, Burroughs Corporation and President and Chief Operating Officer, Liberty Wire & Cable, Inc. He has represented two Chinese-based companies, played a key role in raising U.S. capital for each company, and helped their successful efforts to become publicly listed corporations on the NASDAQ exchange. He currently is a Board member of ShengdaTech, a publically held NASDAQ-listed chemical specialties company in China and is a board member of Roscoe Medical, Inc. a medical supply and equipment company owned by a private equity group.
A native of Washington, DC, he earned a Bachelors degree in journalism and public relations in the College of Business and Public Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park. He currently is President of Saidman & Associates, Inc. a business management consulting practice.
