MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING                                                                              RES240_051606 OF AN ACADEMIC COOPERATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNOR OF RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA AND RIVERS STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AND LINCOLN UNIVERSITY OF THE COMMONWEALTH SYSTEM OF HIGHER EDUCATION

WHEREAS, Lincoln University has a long history of successful preparation of leaders in the United States and in Africa, and

WHEREAS, The Honorable Dr. Peter Otunuya Chinwe Odili, Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria is desirous of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding with Lincoln University in his efforts to prepare leaders in Africa; and

WHEREAS, Governor Odili has stated his intention to pursue efforts to prepare African leaders by updating and upgrading the programs of Rivers State University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as RSUST); and

WHEREAS, Governor Odili is desirous of utilizing the talent and expertise of Lincoln University personnel to re-establish RSUST’s sound operating environment and raise its competitive threshold; and

WHEREAS, Lincoln University is desirous of building upon its legacy of preparing leaders for the world; and

WHEREAS, A Memorandum of Understanding of an Academic Cooperation Agreement Between The Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria and Rivers State University of Science and Technology and Lincoln University of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education has been developed to establish a formal collaboration to fulfill the goals of Governor Odili and Lincoln University; and

WHEREAS, The Lincoln University Board of Trustees Executive Committee has reviewed the proposed Memorandum of Understanding of an Academic Cooperation Agreement between The Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria and Rivers State University of Science and Technology and Lincoln University of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education; and

WHEREAS, The Lincoln University Board of Trustees Executive Committee recognizes that a formal collaboration between RSUST and Lincoln University is in the best interest of both parties; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Lincoln University Board of Trustees Executive Committee authorizes the President of Lincoln University to enter into the Memorandum of Understanding of an Academic Cooperation Agreement between The Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria and Rivers State University of Science and Technology and Lincoln University of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this Resolution and the Memorandum of Understanding of an Academic Cooperation Agreement Between the Governor of Rivers State, Nigeria and Rivers State University of Science and Technology and Lincoln University of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education, shall be hereby considered to constitute Resolution 240_051606 in its entirety.
