MINUTES
The
Lincoln University Board of Trustees met on Saturday, November 18, 2006
in Vail
Hall. Chairman Calvin S. Morris called
the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Eastern and gave the opening prayer. Secretary Lloyd called roll.

Secretary Lloyd offered
the September 16, 2006 Board of
Trustees meeting minutes for Board approval.

motion was properly moved and seconded.

CHAIRMAN’S
REPORT
Chairman Morris
announced the passing of Dr. Henry G.
Cornwell. Chairman Morris stressed that
during Board discussions, comments should be kept on a professional and
not personal level. He also asked Trustees to

the Lincoln University Board of Trustees accepts the Audits of
Financial
Statements and Federal Award Programs (with Independent Auditor’s
Reports) for
the year ended June 30, 2006, presented and reviewed by Thompson, Cobb,
Bazilio
and Associates, PC and the University’s Administration at a meeting of
the
Audit Committee on October 30, 2006.
The June 30, 2006 financial statements include an
unqualified opinion by
Thompson, Cobb, Bazilio and Associates, PC.

appointment of one (1) University Trustee to serve in accordance with

The Senate
reappointed Dr. Robert L. Albright,
Ms. Kimberly A. Lloyd and Dr. David E. Knox to the Board to serve an
additional
four-year term. CONSENT
AGENDA: STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS
Mr.
Warren R. Colbert, Chair, Planning and Development Committee,
provided a brief report on contributions to the University and the
Trustee
forum initiative. Representatives from
Wachovia Bank provided a presentation on planned giving.
Mr. Colbert’s report was accepted as
information. Mr.
Dwight S. Taylor, Chair, Buildings and Property Committee,
provided a brief report on construction activities at the University. Mr. Taylor’s report was accepted as
information.
Mr.
William B. Ingram, Chair, Educational Policy and Academic Affairs
Committee, introduced
Dr. Grant D. Venerable, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Venerable provided a brief report on the
status of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education self-study.
Ms.
Kimberly A. Lloyd, Chair, Investment Committee, reported that the
Committee will be meeting throughout the year to review the
University’s
investment policies and procedures and University strategic goals. Chair Lloyd commended President Nelson and
Mr. Merlin for not having to use the University’s line of credit this
year. Ms. Lloyd’s report was accepted
as information.
Dr.
Ernest C. Levister, Chair, IT and the Library Committee,
introduced Mr. Steve Carol, Director, IT Department.
Mr. Carol briefed the Board on IT highlights
(1999-present). Dr. Levister requested
feedback from the
Board regarding a proposed Langston Hughes Resource Center. Dr. Levister also suggested the formation of
a Library Advisory Committee to look at long-term trends, priorities
and funding
sources. Dr. Levister’s report was
accepted as information.
The
Business Affairs, Executive, and Student Affairs Committee reports
provided in the Board Book were accepted as information.
Dr.
William B. Bynum, Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment
Management
provided
a brief update on Student Enhancements.
Ms.
Stephanie Cameron, Student Representative to the Board,
provided a brief update on Student Government Association activities. There
being no further business, Chairman Morris adjourned the
meeting at 11:10 a.m.
