CLASSROOM POLICIES Academic Integrity: This class follows
the University's written policy on academic integrity. Sanctions for cheating
are: A. Warning: a written notice that
repetitions of misconduct will result in more severe disciplinary action. The
warning becomes part of the student's file in the Office of the Registrar and,
if there is no other example of misconduct, is removed at the time of graduation.
B. Failure for project (exam, paper, experiment). C.
Failure of course. For serious and repeat offenses, the University reserves the
right to suspend or expel. Imposition
of Sanctions: First Offense - A and B Second and Subsequent
Offenses - B or C In this class, copying or paraphrasing from the text
or article in answer to worksheet questions will result in a zero on that worksheet.
If this occurs more than twice the student will fail the course. Class
Policies: -
In accordance
with University policy, a student with four or more unexcused absences from lecture
and lab combined will receive an "F" in the course. - Three late
arrivals count as one absence. Therefore, frequently coming to class late will
also result in a failing grade.
- If you are absent from class it is your
responsibility to talk to me. Otherwise, the absence will be counted as unexcused.
- All assignments are due on the date stated in class. Late assignments
will be taken up to one week after the due date with a 3 point deduction for each
late day. After one week the assignment will be given a zero.
- Quizzes
given before mid-term can be made up only on Tuesday of mid-term week, from 9:00
- 4:00.
- Quizzes due after mid-term and the mid-term exam can be made
up only on Tuesday of the final week of classes from 9:00-4:00.
- Laboratories
cannot be made up.
-
All make-ups and late assignments
require a written explanation within 24 hours of returning to campus and the make-ups
will be substantially different than the original test and require extensive writing.
- Cell phones must be turned off while in class, both lecture and
laboratory. They may be used only in extreme emergencies, which must be cleared
with me.
