Welcome to the Weekly Update of the Alumni Association of Lincoln University, PA

Week of May 25-31, 2003

DUES: The magic number again is 400 regular dues paying members. Ballots have been sent to financial members as of April 19, 2003. To date – there are ninety-four dues paid members and thirty-one Subscribing Life Members for 2002-03, and Six Associate Members of the Association. All alumni are urged to pay dues through your local chapter. If there is no local chapter in your area, please pay your dues directly to the Central Office by sending your check payable to: AALU-PA, P.O. Box 182 Lincoln University, Pa 19352. Your support is greatly appreciated. Our numbers are growing! Thank you for your continued support!

The University has kicked off the 150th Anniversary celebration of the existence of Lincoln University. President Ivory Nelson and Dr. Patricia Nelson – General Chairperson of the Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee are enthusiastic about the coming events. Alumni cooperation and contributions for this event is to raise $10 million of the $100 million goal. We can and we will support our alma mater in this endeavor – contact the Office of Vice President for Development and/or the Office of Alumni Relations for more information.

CAMPUS ACTIVITIES: Annual Alumni Picnic will be held on campus July 19, 2002 and the Annual Golf Outing will be held July 21, 2003 – for more information concerning the Golf Outing, please contact the Office of Development.

ALUMNI GOLF OUTING – The sixth Annual Golf Outing Classic will be held at the Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford, Pa on Monday, July 21, 2003 at 8:30 a.m. This day promises to be filled with people plenty of good golf, fabulous food, fun and fellowship. The proceeds will benefit the Lincoln University Alumni golf Classic Scholarship Fund. Your participation and financial contribution will afford many aspiring students the opportunity to fulfill their educational dreams.

  • Lead Sponsor $15,000 (two golf foursomes) Press recognition, three hole signage, banner displayed at luncheon and continental breakfast. Remarks at luncheon, check presentation at luncheon, Corporate representatives to sit at President’s table.

CONDOLENCES:
Dr. Gary J. Hunter ’69, was killed in an automobile accident on Interstate 495 in Delaware. Dr. Hunter was a professor of history at Rowan University who was a honorary Nigerian chief. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17, 2003 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chester, Pa. Caesar Lester Speight ’73 passed May 5, 2003.
