Breast
Cancer Proposal Funded
The
specific aim of this project is to develop hypotheses which will
lead to better understanding of the social, cultural, spiritual
and other factors that influence beliefs and practices preventing
early detection of breast cancer among the target population. The
objectives are: (1) To identify unexplored barriers to early
detection of breast cancer among African-American women over the
age of 50, and (2) To identify strategies for reducing these
barriers, including methods for testing the effectiveness of these

on Aging in conjunction with EqualityBridge.com
a start up technology company submits grant to The Small Business
Innovative Research Program to impact outreach, health education
and early detection using the Internet and CD ROM technology. (more)

Prostate
Cancer Grant Ending
The Center has
completed its Prostate Cancer Training Demonstration Project.
This project examines efforts to empower African-American males
and their families regarding decision making far Prostate Cancer
screening and treatment. (See the final

Grant
Writing Workshop To be held January 29th 31st 2001.
This two-day
hands on workshop will offer participants the opportunity to develop
a proposal on a topic of their choice. Participants will receive
group and personal instruction from the instructors. Each participant
will have access to a computer with Internet access. (more)

Workshop To be Held February 23rd, 2001
This workshop
will identify, discuss and demonstrate six ways that computers connected
