COMMENTS:
1. (Yes Vote) "It seems that this is a rubber stamp process. That
is my concern. Somehow there has to be a more collaborative process."
2.
(Vote to Abstain) "Will send comments later."
3. (No Vote) "Objections
- Statistics req., Foreign Lang. Req., Minor Req. (too rigid)"
4. (Yes
Vote) "Please be advised to create a structure that will make Lincoln University's
students competent for the future."
5. (Yes Vote) "Foreign Languages -
8 credits, Free Electives - 0-12 credits as needed."
6. (Yes Vote) "Need
to define criteria for each category of the structure as defined. Need to have
flexibility in the categories to accommodate the difference of various disciplines.
There also needs to be definition as to how courses are dove tailed so that the
course, not core and major, should support the emphasis of the major. Internships/cooperatives
need to be included into the pedagogy of the course - hands on versus concept."
7. (No Vote) "The core is too large. Major emphasis is too large. Major
emphasis, we already do this - this requirement of a minor emphasis is punitive.
Cooperative education - this is an excellent idea. Free electives are much too
low. We need to give each student an opportunity to experiment."
8. (Yes
Vote) Concerns: Difference between BA and BS, Teacher Ed. Requirements, i.e. student
teaching, Free electives not really being free, number of hours for internship.
